Split scenes into two

MarkAbility to split a scene into two scenes at the cursor would save a lot of time. When you are in flow and just keep writing you don't want to have to stop to click on menus to create new scenes and sometimes you won't remember to anyway. Hitting something like CTRL+Enter to either create a new scene following the current one right there or split the current scene in two at that point would improve the workflow and enable writers to keep writing - giving priority to their ideas rather than the UI

John BlommersThis feature can be very helpful. The use case is importing a document into Dabble. Today the writer has to copy the source text and a paste it into Dabble. But it's now one long chapter because Dabble will not automatically split text into chapters and scenes when it detects H1 or H2 headers or Markdown `#` or `##` characters. It would be the work of mere minutes for the user to scroll down the document and split it into chapters on a first pass and then into scenes within each chapter.

Johannes RexxAt the risk of repeating myself, during the 2019 NaNoWriMo I realize I've got a whole lot of scenes that are not scenes because they contain several scenes. I want to break these scenes up. The right way to do this is to put the cursor between the scenes, right click, and choose "Split scene here." There is no such feature of course  Today it's heavy lifting, that is, creating new scenes and cutting/pasting scene text into them.

Grace I.I actually had this exact problem. I created a whole new book and carefully laid out my chapters and scene all over again, and then copy/pasted all my text into the new format. I thought I had broken the software, it took so long to adjust to the amount I asked it to upload!

John SchuhrI too would love this feature. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to break a scene into scenes due to location/time changes and had to manually create a new scene, cut and paste the content and then reorder the scenes because the new scene always gets add to the end of the chapter.

RodneyAs everyone's mentioned it's a critical feature to be able to easily split a scene. But also I think there should be a way to merge scenes. Many times while editing I realize that I've written two scenes that really should just have been one.

LindaI would love this feature. I miss it a great deal from Scrivener. Also, a merge would be great.

Mark TomlinsonI'm going to bump this thread. I'm importing a book right now, and it's grueling.
First, I have to create dozens of new scenes. Then, create this weird cut-and-paste workflow to move each scene one at a time. Create new empty scenes and drag them where needed or delete unused empty scenes as necessary. And finally, reread the chapter to make sure I didn't jumble or drop scenes in the process.
It's a pain that can be prevented by having a simple right-mouse click 'Split scene' option. -

BlazeVery useful for thoughtful re-organization of novel. Could save a lot of time. Scrivener has it.
