What happened to us not HAVING to be connected to the internet? What happened to the reassurance that our work was locally saved? What happened to working offline? All these new features are great but the BEST feature of the old version was the fact that we could work ANYWHERE at ANYTIME and crashing wasn't a thing I worried about. Since the new launch I have had to talk to support more times than I ever did in the last two years of using Dabble. (Never... I never once needed to contact support in two years. Since the new update? Twice. with one major loss of work).
Yes, there are some great new features here, some definitely were needed to bring Dabble up to par with other programs. But the one feature that was always Dabble's best feature? Never losing your work. Always opening the desktop icon while offline and finding your work EXACTLY how you left it.

That is the feature that needs to be returned. In the world of being tech forward and "clouds" absolutely NOTHING replaces local back up. NOTHING. Losing a two hours of straight writing really has be questioning what is important in my writing software and if where I am writing isn't guaranteed to be backing up on a PERFECT internet connection due to a buggy system, then why am I here?

When writing a story with a lot of characters, it gets really hard to remember how everyone is connected. You have family members, friends, enemies, coworkers, people who secretly know each other, and characters who have complicated pasts. After a while, it becomes a lot to keep in your head.
A character relationship map would make this way easier. It could be something where you add your characters and connect them together with lines. You could label the connection, like “brother,” “enemy,” “partner,” or “doesn’t trust.” You could also add notes about their relationship, like why they know each other or what happened between them.
I think this would be really helpful for people who write series or stories with big casts. It would stop writers from having to scroll through hundreds of notes just to remember one small detail about a character.
Dabble already has a lot of useful tools, but I think something like this would make organizing characters much easier. Stories are built around characters and their relationships, so having a place to see all of that together would be really helpful.
I think this would be a great feature to add.

I could check the wordcount of the previous day. I could also look at how productive I was, and it was really nice. Now it's gone. There's only a line and no way to check how many words I wrote in previous days. It's sad, as it was a nice feature. Is there any way to bring it back? The new wordcount has more ways to add goals, but what's the point, if I can't even track them? Yes, I can open a spreadsheet to track how much I wrote each day, but then it's extra work.

If there were a separate box to be filled in after each chapter, one or more of those threads can be answered in the next chapter or two as it's being written, instead of getting lost. This kind of plotting leads to more immediate reader engagement. The "Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees" thing.

The 3.0 version doesn't have the option, and instead now everything is a chapter whether I want it to be or not. I don't like that this then throws off the auto-numbering of actual chapters.
**Add Simple, Screen-Friendly Font Options**

Please consider adding Arial or another clean, highly readable sans-serif font to Dabble’s manuscript editor. PT Serif is available, but its more decorative, rounded letterforms can feel too loopy and difficult to read during long writing and editing sessions. The general Dabble UI font is so much easier to read than the stylized font options in the manuscript.

Fonts such as Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, Calibri, Atkinson Hyperlegible, or Lexend would provide simpler letter shapes, clearer spacing, and better on-screen readability. Adding a few more accessible font options could help reduce eye strain and make extended manuscript work more comfortable.

With the new Dabble 3.0, there doesn't seem to be a way to set a daily word count goal anymore. I only see document goal, writing challenge, or project goal. I want to be able to set a goal to write 500 words every day. I don't want that number to change based on some larger goal. I don't want it to get bigger or smaller if I miss a day or write more words one day. I just want a simple, regular goal that resets every day.

Now it opens it in a new tab in more of a notebook format wanting to print 2 pages compared to the 8. I understand with your new changes there will be tweaks here and there. Hopefully this one can be addressed sooner rather than later.

The plot section has a limited view. When you click on the "Note Card," it doesn't extend like the old format did. People plot more than a single line, which makes it difficult when I have to scroll through the sliver of the allotted section just to see what I've written. For the people who rely on plotting, this is very frustrating and makes me want to switch platforms. I've been with you guys for years.

Proof of no AI use - Human Written Evidence

More and more the burden of proving no AI use is being put on us writers. Its up to us to prove our innocence in gen AI usage regarding our manuscripts. There is the case of Mia Ballard, the case of the Commonwealth prize winner, and there are others who say they did not use generative AI but the defamation of the persons career happens because the writer has no evidence.

I would LOVE if Dabble could be on the forefront of innovation and be the second writing software to include a feature that PROVES we did not write with AI. Ellipsus being the first (with a simple but powerful mechanism called Embossing) but I feel there are other ways to approach this besides keystroke documentation.

The option to screen record (added bonus of being able to choose to record yourself as the one doing the writing) is a way to prove no AI was written.

I feel however the feafure works, it should not use AI.

It would be nice to have this proof of no AI/evidence of human authorship feature, even if it costs more as an add-on. Thats something many writers would pay for for peace of mind, like my writing group I converted to Ellipsus because we've all been terrified of the AI witchhunt and how many innocents are being accused. I want to stay with Dabble but part of staying relevant to modern writers would be having this feature.

As writers in the age of AI, we need more ways to prove our human made work is in fact human made! Please help us make that happen!
